I agree with your PhD professor. Fashion is a form of "speech" that includes all forms of expression. What's especially interesting to me is how society shapes fashion and how industry markets fashion- as well as the end result from both phenomena.

We had a PhD. profesor at school which defined fashion not only as clothing, hairstyle or body art according to you, he says that we meet fashion every day from the job titles to the popular music

Hi Kevin.
Thanks for the comment, and my apologies for the delayed response. I am just getting back online after a month overseas!
I wrote my graduate thesis on the luxury industry, and I can tell you that there is a lot of information out there, but much of it will cost you. However, there are some free sources to explore, including Capgemini/Merrill Lynch World Wealth Report. http://www.capgemini.com/industries/financial/solutions/wealth/worldwealthreport/
That will give you some great global information, and I think it's the best out there. You'll find the information you're looking for regarding market size and revenues, and you can get information from past years to do a comparative analysis. Other sites like The Luxury Institute will give you further interesting information, but with a US focus. I hope this helps!

Hello,
Thanks for this uplifting article. I am doing some industry research on the luxury apparel and accessories industry in terms of its size and revenues. Do you know where I can get some information on that. Thanks
